AC Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari says if there was a way he could change his country of birth, he would have done it without blinking an eye.
Comparing club and country, he revealed that there was a sharp contrast between Ghana and Milan in many ways.
Muntari, who fell out of favour with Ghana’s technical team during the Brazil World Cup on disciplinary grounds which led to his expulsion midway, mentioned that at Milan one had whatever he wanted, and was loved by team-mates.
The UEFA Champions League winner indicated that this disparity notwithstanding, he, like the proverbial leopard, could not change the colour of his skin (country).
“Here at Milan, it is different from Ghana. Here you can have whatever you want, and you’re loved by your teammates. But I can’t change the country I come from.”
He told reporters during the club’s training tour of New York, USA, that “it was great to train with the Cosmos. We’re happy to be their guests.”
The midfielder was the centre of controversy during the Brazil World Cup but has kept mute over what accounted for the brouhaha in South America.
Meanwhile, the former Portsmouth/Inter Milan man bemoaned the Rossoneri lost of shine recently and charged his colleagues to go the extra mile in the coming season.
He said: “This year we want to do better, that’s for sure. Last year did not go well, we know that.
“We have to return to the real Milan that everyone knows,” he added.
Milan finished eighth in the Serie A under two coaches last season.
