Ghanaian international Andre Ayew could land in the English Premier League in January as Newcastle and West Ham United intensify their pursuit of the midfielder who is also on the radar of Italian side Napoli.

Ayew’s refusal to extend his contract with Olympique Marseille fuelled speculation that the youngster was set to leave the Stade Velodrome after five seasons with the French giants, who would want to cash in on their prized player rather than allow him to leave on a free transfer when his contract with the club expires at the end of the season.

Ayew, who turns 25 on December 17, has been linked also with other Premiership outfits such as Liverpool, Everton, Hull and Swansea who were all put on alert after the player refused Marseille’s contract offer.

However, inside sources indicate that St James’ Park could be Ayew’s most likely destination as Newcastle have made the strongest approach for the midfielder, who prefers a move to the Premiership to the Italia Serie A where Napoli coach, Rafa Benitez, has made the Ghanaian a transfer target.

According to the Italian media, Napoli are considering Bosman’s move for the Marseille star who will be out of contract in the summer and will be available as a free agent.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Napoli boss is looking to another quality attacker to the squad and he believes Ayew would be a great addition at Stadio San Paolo.

However, with Marseille currently on top of the Ligue 1 standing and fighting for the French title, they might just hold on to the highly rated forward, who has scored 36 goals in 142 Ligue 1 outings, to pursue their title chase and rather allow him to leave for free in the summer.
