"Officers at the Kwapong Police command in the Brong Ahafo region have been replaced following clashes "
Officers at the Kwapong Police command in the Brong Ahafo region have been replaced following clashes between them and residents of the town.
A misunderstanding between a traditional priest (spiritualist) and a commercial motorcycle rider in the town Saturday resulted in the death of three persons, while the local police station was vandalised. A police stray bullet reportedly killed one person during the confusion.
The residents accused the police of shielding the alleged killer, provoking the attack on them.
Subsequently, the police officers abandoned their posts claiming their lives were under threat.
But Starr News sources say the Brong Ahafo regional minister Eric Opoku after series of meetings with the traditional authorities in the area have agreed to change the police guard in order for peace to reign.
Meanwhile, two people have been arrested in connection with the killings and the destruction of police properties.Share your views
