A suspected homosexual who was flogged by a vigilante group ‘Safety Empire’ in Nima has revealed that he contemplated suicide on several occasions.

The young man received over 100 lashes with barbed wire by the group which has vowed to rid the community of homosexuals.

Speaking to Starr News for the first time, the suspected gay man revealed that he was set up by a friend.

According to him, he accepted the accusation that he was gay because he wanted to save himself from the violent group.

“…I had nothing to say but they were forcing me to talk so one guy told me to lie to save myself, so I had to say anything to save myself out of fear and after that they decided to lay me and cane me with belts and sticks,” the suspected homosexual told Starr News’ Ibrahim Alhassan in an interview.

Meanwhile, Starr News’ investigations have revealed that the leader of the vigilante group Sule is on the run.

Public Relations Officer of the Greater Accra Pegional police Command ASP Efia Tenge said the police will quicken investigations into the matter.
