An Accra Circuit Court has remanded a 38-year-old driver into police custody for allegedly offering 70 tablets of suspected unregistered Royal Tapentadol 250 mg for sale.

β€Žβ€ŽFatawu Yakubu, a resident of Lapaz, Accra, has been charged with offering unregistered drugs for sale.

β€Žβ€ŽThe prosecution told the court that the complainants were police officers attached to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Special Operations Team at the Police Headquarters in Accra.

β€Žβ€ŽThe court did not take his plea. He is expected to reappear on November 3, 2026.

β€Žβ€Žβ€ŽThe prosecution said that on October 15, 2026, at about 1400 hours, the officers conducted an operation at Nii Bio Town Junction, Lapaz, to clamp down on illicit drug peddlers and users.

β€Žβ€ŽDuring the operation, officers arrested Yakubu at a game centre.

β€Žβ€ŽA search conducted on him allegedly revealed 70 tablets of Royal Tapentadol 250 mg suspected to be unregistered.

β€Žβ€Žβ€ŽThe prosecution said the exhibits were being forwarded to the Police Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis and a report.
