E/R: Fire destroys one-storey building at Srodae

In response, a ten-member firefighting crew led by SO II Nartey was immediately mobilized and dispatched to the scene, where they arrived at 11:15pm.

Upon arrival, the crew observed that the fire had fully engulfed a one-storey building, which is used for both commercial and domestic purposes, with fire still in progress. Firefighters immediately commenced firefighting operations, bringing the fire under control at 01:23pm and completely extinguishing it at 0304hours.

The crew's swift and professional response prevented the fire from spreading to adjoining properties, thereby minimizing the extent of damage.

The fire caused significant damage to personal care products, electrical cables, fascia boards, lights, personal belongings, jewellery, paints, drinks, air conditioners, phones and accessories, clothing and footwear, and roofing sheets. It also resulted in the complete collapse of the first floor and partial collapse of sections of the ground floor.

Due to the intensity of the fire and the compromised structural integrity of the building, access has been cordoned off to prevent unauthorised entry and mitigate potential danger.

Preliminary investigations into the cause of the fire are underway.
