According to the Minister, the discrepancies were detected after the academic results submitted by recruits were forwarded to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for verification.
He said the government would take further steps against persons found to have falsified their credentials, including placing them on a red list to prevent them from applying to join any of Ghanaβs security services in the future.
The Minister also indicated that some offenders could face prosecution.
Speaking at a ceremony to inaugurate new classroom facilities at the Asokore Mampong Roman Catholic School, on September 9, the Minister expressed concern over the decision by some applicants to falsify their academic records in an attempt to secure admission into security service training institutions.
βItβs so shocking that a lot of people forged their results. I donβt know how they think that they will be employed in the Police, Prisons, Immigration, Fire Service, Narcotics Control Commission, or Armed Forces, and the certificate you present wonβt be checked,β he said.
βAs we speak, many have been dismissed from the training because they have doctored their results slips,β he added.
"All those involved will be put on a red list. Even when they correct their results and return, they will not be admitted into any Service because their minds are corrupted and should lose that opportunity to join the Service," he remarked.
The Interior Minister warned prospective applicants seeking to join the Police Service, Prisons Service, Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Narcotics Control Commission and the Armed Forces to ensure that they meet the required academic qualifications before submitting their applications.
He stressed that academic credentials presented by recruits would continue to undergo verification, warning applicants against attempting to manipulate or falsify their results.
The Minister said the measures were necessary to protect the integrity of the recruitment process and ensure that only qualified candidates were admitted into Ghanaβs security services.
