NPP member Clement Bonsu joins NDC in Sunyani

‎Clement Bonsu, who spent more than three decades with the NPP, was formally welcomed into the NDC at a ceremony in Sunyani, with party executives describing his defection as a major boost to the party’s communication and mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2028 general elections.

He said Mr. Bonsu’s decision to leave the NPP would have an impact beyond the Sunyani East Constituency, citing his extensive experience as a communicator and his long-standing involvement in the NPP.

‎Explaining his decision, Clement Bonsu, popularly known as 'Paa Cle' said his departure from the NPP was influenced by two major factors.

‎He said the party had failed to adequately recognise and reward his commitment and hard work despite more than three decades of service.

‎Paa Cle also pointed to what he described as "a transformation within the NDC, particularly its performance since returning to government."

According to him, within the first year and eight months of the NDC administration, the government had undertaken significant infrastructure projects and demonstrated what he considers effective management of the economy.

‎He said these developments influenced his decision to join the NDC, arguing that he currently sees little positive to offer his political future within the NPP.

‎The Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, Vincent Antwi Agyei also welcomed Mr. Bonsu into the NDC, describing him as an experienced, mature and highly effective communicator.

‎The MCE said his assessment of Mr. Bonsu was based on more than 15 years of engaging him on radio and other media platforms, rather than simply because he had now joined the NDC.

‎He said Mr. Bonsu had demonstrated tolerance, maturity and an exceptional ability to communicate and persuade audiences.

‎The MCE also criticised the NPP for failing to recognise the contribution of a person who had sacrificed and worked for the party for several years.

‎He assured Mr. Bonsu that the NDC would welcome him as part of the party’s family but would not make promises of political positions or material benefits.

‎Instead, he said, the party would provide him with a platform to contribute meaningfully to its activities.

‎The MCE further appealed to NDC members to fully embrace Mr. Bonsu and avoid actions that could make him regret his decision to join the party.

‎He disclosed that Mr. Bonsu would immediately join the NDC communications team and contribute to the party’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2028 elections.
