In a series of videos shared online, some Ghanaian pastors, including Nigel Gaisie and others, have strongly opposed the implementation of the restrictions under the Road Traffic Regulations, 2026 (L.I. 2519).
Rev. Dr Kwadwo Bempah
Following the controversies surrounding the new order, Head Pastor of Holy Hill Chapel, Rev. Dr Kwadwo Bempah, is among the first clerics in the country to strongly criticise the new regulation banning preaching on public transport.
According to the preacher, efforts to restrict evangelism will not succeed.
In a video that has gone viral online, Rev. Dr Kwadwo Bempah, who was seen preaching to his congregation, noted that Christians should not remain silent in the face of what he described as attempts to restrict the spread of Christianity.
βBut you will not succeed, though. What you are trying to do, you will not succeed. Wherever human beings gather, we will preach. Whenever human beings gather, the word must go forth,β he said.
Nigel Gaisie
Aside from Rev. Dr Kwadwo Bempah, Nigel Gaisie has also joined other clerics in rejecting the new ban on preaching on moving public transport.
According to Nigel Gaisie, he would go ahead and preach in public vehicles, even if it led to his arrest.
In a Facebook post on October 8, 2026, the founder of Prophetic Hill Chapel also noted that he would soon return to buses to preach about Jesus Christ.
βIn the coming weeks or days, I will be on buses and lorries to preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Let them come and arrest me,β Nigel Gaisie noted.
Prophet Telvin Sowah Adjei
Prophet Telvin Sowah Adjei, in an interview with Nana Romeo, noted that there is nothing wrong with preaching on public transport.
Prophet Telvin explained that preaching in a vehicle should not necessarily be considered a bad idea, arguing that people also play music in vehicles.
βI think that is to curb the situation where people will be preaching in a travelling vehicle. When I checked the signs, there is no nuisance that the amount of sermon could cause in the car against a person making a phone call, playing music, or watching a video. They will all be a nuisance. Unless we ban the video or playing music.
β...I think the issue is sometimes the preaching that turns into banter, and the drivers may not want that in the vehicle. I believe they wanted calm in that angle, and people may want a sound mind when travelling in a trotro... An aeroplane even allows air hosts to give their announcements,β Prophet Telvin said.

Prophet Kumchacha
Among the clerics who have strongly opposed the new regulation, Prophet Kumchacha was the only one who sided with the restriction.
According to Kumchacha, clerics should not say they will disobey the restriction, adding that if they disagree with it, they should channel their grievances through the appropriate channels.
βThe law is the law. Even the Bible states that we should obey all laws, and so, as a pastor, I don't think why you would disobey a law. Obeying the law is like obeying Jesus Christ.
βSo would the pastors saying they won't obey the law be happy when their church members also don't listen to their preaching?β Kumchacha noted.
