The Ghana Police Service has arrested Samuel Osei Anto Christopher, the main suspect in the killing of two relatives at NTHC Estate in Sakumono, days after the shooting. The police had offered a GHΒ’100,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

The events began on the morning of Friday, 30 October 2026, when, according to police, Christopher went to the home of 57-year-old George Atubiga. He was accompanied by a 47-year-old woman, Beatrice Mumuni, who is suspected of leading him to the house.

Police say the visit was to demand repayment of GHΒ’500,000 that Mr Atubiga had allegedly borrowed from Christopher and failed to pay back. The debt, according to preliminary investigations, may have been what triggered the killings.

An argument allegedly followed. Police say Christopher then shot Mr Atubiga and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atubiga. Both were killed at their residence.

Officers from the Sakumono District Police Command responded to a report of the incident and found both victims lying in pools of blood.

They were rushed to a hospital, where a medical officer pronounced them dead. Their bodies were later deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy. The police have not released any autopsy findings.

Police subsequently arrested Ms Mumuni, 47, who was allegedly with Christopher when he visited the house. Her arrest was the first in the case.

The police described their findings so far as preliminary. Both suspects are presumed innocent until a court rules otherwise.

The manhunt

After the shooting, Christopher went into hiding. The police declared him wanted and offered a GHΒ’100,000 reward for credible information leading to his arrest. Members of the public were asked to help locate him.

On Sunday, November 1, 2026, the police announced the arrest in a post on X.

β€œThe key suspect in the Sakumono murder case, Samuel Osei Anto Christopher, who was on the run, has been arrested from his hideout. Full details will be communicated,” the post said. The police said further details would follow in due course.

The police have not said where Christopher was found, whether the reward will be paid, or when the suspects will be put before a court. No other suspects have been publicly named so far.
