The 2026 ranking places Professor Joshua Yindenaba Abor, Dr Emmanuel Joel Aikins Abakah, Professor Godfred Alufar Bokpin and Professor Robert Ebo Hinson among researchers recognised for their citation impact in Economics and Business.
Professor Abor recorded the strongest position among the four, ranking 24,350th globally in the single-year impact ranking and 119th in his subfield, out of 16,367 researchers.
He recorded a composite citation score of 3.19, with 216 documents and 714 citations.
Dr Abakah ranked 65,025th globally, with 101 documents and 1,259 citations, placing him 266th in his subfield.
Professor Bokpin ranked 74,673rd globally, with 68 documents and 359 citations, while Professor Hinson recorded a subfield ranking of 485th out of 15,920 researchers.
The ranking was released on October 7 and is based on Scopus data through the 2025 citation year.
It covers researchers across 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields and uses a composite citation score incorporating measures including citations, the h-index, co-authorship and authorship position.
The list distinguishes between career-long and single-year research impact, with the latter measuring a researcher’s citation impact during the latest assessment year.
For UGBS, the inclusion of four faculty members provides a measure of the global visibility of research produced in Ghana in economics, finance, business and related disciplines.
The recognition comes as universities increasingly use citation-based rankings to assess and showcase research influence.
