Weija floods: Two bodies recovered at Adakope
The remains of two persons suspected to have died in recent flooding have been retrieved at Adakope near Weija in the Weija Gbawe Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The bodies were discovered on the evening of Thursday, July 2, according to the Presiding Member for the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, Wilfred Ayitey Blankson, who confirmed the incident and said the victims are believed to have been swept away by floodwaters.

According to him, the bodies have been conveyed by police to the Police Hospital morgue in Accra for preservation and further investigations.

The discovery adds to growing concerns over the impact of persistent flooding in parts of the municipality, which has repeatedly affected lives and property during heavy rains.

Mr. Blankson, who also serves as the Assembly’s Presiding Member, has appealed to the Ministry of Local Government to urgently support the Assembly with funding to help address the recurring flooding challenges in the area.

Meanwhile, The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has announced that the government will begin distributing relief items to flood-affected communities across the country from Saturday, July 4, as part of efforts to support victims of the recent heavy rains.
