Update: Two killed, four injured as STC bus burns in fiery Etukrom crash
Two people have been confirmed dead following a fiery road crash involving a State Transport Company (STC) bus, a fuel tanker, a Mitsubishi pick-up and a Kia Sorento at Etukrom, near Bonsu Junction in the Eastern Region.

The crash, which occurred on Monday, August 3, left the STC bus, the fuel tanker and the Mitsubishi pick-up completely burnt, while the Kia Sorento was extensively damaged.

Emergency response teams from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and other agencies were dispatched to the scene to contain the situation and rescue victims.

According to emergency officials, six injured persons—four men and two women—were transported to Hawa Memorial Hospital for treatment. But two people were later confirmed dead.

The deceased are yet to be formally identified.

Earlier reports had indicated that one of the fuel tankers veered off the road and plunged into a nearby river after the collision.

A member of the GNFS Communications Team, Alex King Nartey, earlier confirmed the incident to Citi News, stating that emergency responders had been deployed to assess the situation and provide assistance.

Authorities say the situation is now under control, while investigations are underway to establish the cause of the crash.

The vehicles involved in the crash were:

A fuel tanker;
A Mitsubishi pick-up with registration number GE 8602-17;
A Kia Sorento with registration number GT 8601-14; and
An STC bus with registration number GS 7050-22.
The extent of damage and the casualty figures underscore the severity of the crash, making it one of the major road accidents recorded in the Eastern Region in recent months.

A member of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) Communication Team, Alex King Nartey, who confirmed the incident to Citi News, said emergency responders had been dispatched to the scene to assess the situation and provide assistance.

The number of casualties remains unconfirmed as authorities continue efforts to determine the full extent of the incident.

Further details are expected after emergency teams complete their assessment of the crash scene
