Ahodwo R/C Basic School in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region is in a deplorable state, posing significant risks to the safety and well-being of the pupils.
Adding to its dilapidated nature is the activities of wee smokers who have turned the only public basic school in the area into a smoking base.
The school's poor infrastructure is seen with cracked walls, destroyed windows and doors, and without toilet facilities.
Residents in an interview with this reporter on Monday said the school's condition continues to deteriorate.
According to Mr. Tuffour Hayford, a PTA executive, the poor state of the school's infrastructure is adversely affecting academic work.
He emphasized situation is further exacerbated by the presence of wee smokers on the premises, adding to the overall neglect.
The absence of a fence wall around the school raises additional safety concerns, as noted by PTA Chairman Kwaku Boah.
Urgent attention from local authorities is necessary to address these issues and provide a safe and conducive learning environment for the pupils.
