The Member of Parliament for Tempane, Hon. Lydia Akanvariba Adakudugu, has reassured her constituents that no community has been left out of her development agenda.
She said she was fully aware of the challenges facing communities across the constituency, ranging from water and electricity supply to road networks and other social amenities, and continues to work tirelessly to address them.
According to her, several projects she has lobbied for are set to commence soon. “I have sleepless nights working and lobbying for projects for the constituency, and I know the problems of every community,” she noted.
Hon. Adakudugu, who also serves as a minister, made these remarks at a ceremony to commission a state-of-the-art Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Complex at Wariyanga in the Tempane District of the Upper East Region.
The facility, YM Lab 15, was established under the Yamoransa Model Labs Program through the support of the Helping Africa Foundation, TECHAIDE, the Ghana Education Service, the Tempane District Assembly, and the Kusaug Traditional Council.
Equipped with modern technology, including robotics, AR/VR tools, 3D printing, and a 36-seater EDUlab with a maker space and conference room, the centre is expected to transform teaching and learning in the area. It will provide students with hands-on experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), boost innovation, and develop leadership potential.
The MP emphasized her commitment to bridging educational gaps in her district, stressing the importance of collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable funding to expand such initiatives.
Project Manager and Presidential Staffer at the Office of the Vice President, Lawyer Abdulai Musah, commended all partners for their support but urged stakeholders and beneficiaries to take proper care of the facility and its equipment to ensure durability.
As part of the event, Hon. Adakudugu presented cheques of GH¢100,000, GH¢50,000, and GH¢43,000 to support 50 tertiary students, the Ghana Education Service office, and the rerooling of Kpikpira Primary School. She also donated computers to students with physical impairments.
The commissioning of the ICT centre marks a significant milestone in improving access to technology for underprivileged students and shaping the future of education in the Tempane constituency and beyond.
