A new Governing Council for the Akrokerri College of Education has been successfully inaugurated, with Professor Abdulai Salifu Asuro confirmed as the Chairman of the Council.
Among the distinguished members sworn in is Mr. Godwin Tettevi, a Senior member at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and founder of the Wellspring Youth Centre.
The new council will provide strategic direction for the College, which is led by Professor Dacosta Aboagye as its Principal.
The inauguration follows nominations approved by H.E. President John Dramani Mahama, underscoring the government's commitment to strengthening leadership within Ghana's tertiary education sector under the oversight of the Ministry of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu (MP), and the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
Mr. Tettevi brings a unique combination of academic insight, grassroots advocacy, and experience in community development to the Council. His background is expected to strengthen the link between the College’s academic mandate and the practical socio-economic needs of the communities it serves.
Commenting on the appointment, Mr. Tettevi stated: “I am deeply humbled by the trust placed in me by the Presidency and the Ministry of Education. As an academic, I appreciate the institutional priorities and the vital role our Colleges of Education play. I am eager to apply my experience to support Akrokerri College in achieving excellence in teacher training alongside my fellow Council members, Chairman Prof. Salifu, and Principal Prof. Aboagye.”
The new Governing Council is tasked with driving quality assurance, promoting innovation, and ensuring the College fulfills its mission in producing highly capable educators for national development.
