Nigerian actress Regina Daniels has expressed deep appreciation to the media for its role in amplifying calls for the release of her brother, Sammy West, who she claims has been arrested by her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
This comes after Regina and her brother appeared in a viral video accusing the Senator of domestic violence. However, days later, the actress disclosed that her elder brother had been arrested.
In an emotional statement shared on her Instagram story, Regina appealed to the public for urgent help, admitting that although the media has sometimes portrayed her negatively, she remains grateful for its efforts in seeking justice for her brother.
“Let’s say I have nothing, my family is nothing, but you know what I’m most thankful for? Apart from every other thing that I am privately thankful for, it is the media. Even if I hate the media because it tried to break me, I still appreciate them.”
Regina further stated that her brother’s detention amounts to kidnapping, accusing Senator Nwoko and the Nigerian Police of holding him unlawfully.
“This is now a case of kidnapping! Holding my brother down till I return is diabolical. What do I call this now, love or obsession? You have always said I am the most useless wife, so why do you need that useless wife back? Free my brother! No matter what he did, his parents and family should be able to see him.”
The actress’s public outcry follows reports earlier this week that Senator Ned Nwoko allegedly ordered the arrest of Regina Daniels’ brother for undisclosed reasons.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media, with fans and fellow celebrities demanding the immediate release of her brother.
