Government declares December 5 a public holiday
The Ministry of the Interior has officially declared Friday, 5th December 2025, as a statutory public holiday in observance of Farmers Day.

In a statement issued on Friday, 28th November 2025, the Ministry announced that the day should be recognised and observed nationwide.

The release stated that “Friday, 5th December, 2025, which marks FARMERS DAY, is a Statutory Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.”

The Minister signed the announcement for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak (MP), reaffirming the government’s commitment to honoring the contributions of farmers and fisherfolk to Ghana’s economy.

Farmers Day remains one of the country’s most significant national celebrations, dedicated to acknowledging the hard work, resilience, and impact of Ghana’s agricultural workforce.

With the day formally confirmed as a public holiday, institutions, organisations, and the general public are expected to comply accordingly.
