The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has urged party faithful who are yet to be appointed to any public position to be patient.
He said per the powers conferred on President John Mahama, only few people can be appointed at a particular time.
“I am aware that some of you are unhappy because you did not get to be appointed to any position upon our return to power., This is understandable. It is the reason why I am embarking on this ‘Thank You Tour’, to explain issues for your understanding.
The challenge is that given the number of appointments that the constitution permits President Mahama to make, not all members of the NDC can be taken care of. So be patient. There is no need to be angry with the party,” he pleaded with party faithful during a meeting at Winneba in the Effutu Constituency on February 12.
Mr Nketia, who is on a tour of the Central Region, explained the rationale for the appointment of 60 ministers by President Mahama.
“You will recall that we all complained about the huge number of ministers under Akufo-Addo’s government. That is why we promised to cut it down to 60. This has been done, which means only few people can be appointed at a time,”Mr Nketia said.
The National Chairman of the NDC urged them to channel their grievances through appropriate quarters for redress.
“You have elected a good president who is doing a good job. Everyone acknowledges this fact, including some members of the opposition. So, I urge you to be patient with the government. If you have any concerns that have not been addressed yet. There is time for everything. Your concerns will be addressed. All you need to do is to channel them through the right quarters and it will be resolved,” he assured.
