Counsellor Lutterodt to appear in court today over controversial remarks
Relationship counsellor Cyril George Lutterodt, widely known as Counsellor Lutterodt, is expected to appear in court on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, following his arrest over alleged comments said to have incited public unrest.

According to reports, Lutterodt made comments urging Ga youth to exhume the body of the late highlife musician Daddy Lumba from his East Legon residence.

He allegedly argued that burying the musician at what he described as an unapproved location on Ga land disrespected local traditions and authorities, and called for immediate action if the proper cultural procedures were not followed.

The remarks quickly sparked outrage on social media and among sections of the public, with many condemning them as insensitive and capable of inciting unrest.

Sources indicate that the Ghana Police Service acted swiftly after the video of the comments circulated widely online, taking Lutterodt into custody for questioning as part of investigations.

He has since been charged with offensive conduct conducive to a breach of the peace under Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). He is also expected to face an additional charge of inciting violence under the Criminal Offences Act and the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491).

Authorities say the arrest forms part of efforts to prevent any possible disturbances, particularly amid heightened emotions surrounding the family disputes over the burial of Daddy Lumba.
