Speaking at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026, during the party’s National Delegates Conference and Officers’ elections, Bawumia called on candidates who emerge successful to reach out to their opponents, while urging those who lose to support the newly elected national executives.
He said the contests should be viewed as an internal exercise aimed at selecting a group of leaders to serve the broader interests of the party, rather than as a permanent division between competing factions.
Bawumia stressed that once voting ends, the campaign for the various positions must also come to an end, with all aspirants expected to turn their attention to the collective objectives of the NPP.
“This is just an internal contest to select a few from well-qualified aspirants to serve our party’s collective and ultimate objective of winning back the trust of the people to serve our motherland better. Therefore, when the voting is done today, the contest must also end.
“To those who win, the first hug and call you make should be to your fellow aspirants. And to those who do not win, I want to firmly assure all of you that this party still needs you and will still need you. There is work for all of us to do. Let us vote in peace, accept the results in good faith, and leave Kumasi as one family.”
