With several songs gaining traction this year, a number two position on Ghana’s viral chart for I’ve Had Enough, and nominations at the Ghana Music Awards Ghana and Ghana Music Awards UK, Lalid is entering a new phase of his career, one he believes should be defined by consistency, growth and identity rather than the success of a single song.
That next chapter will take shape on December 4, when the artiste stages LALID LIVE at Bloom Bar, Untamed Empire.
According to him, the event is an opportunity to bring his music closer to the people who have followed his journey and give them an experience beyond what they hear on streaming platforms.
“For me, LALID LIVE is more than just performing songs. I want people to feel the music differently. I want them to see a side of LALID that they probably don’t get to experience every day,” he said.
From The Matter to a new chapter
The Matter remains an important part of Lalid’s story.
The song arrived when he was still developing his identity as an artiste and trying to establish how he wanted audiences to perceive him. Its impact, however, was not simply about popularity.
Lalid believes the song demonstrated what could happen when he remained authentic to his sound.
“It proved that when I stay true to my sound and my identity, people will connect with it,” he said.
Rather than describing The Matter as the song that changed him, Lalid sees it as the record that allowed more people to discover what he was already building.
“It helped more people discover who Lalid is,” he explained.
A year of momentum
The months that followed have brought a series of releases and a growing audience.
Lalid says his progress has been intentional, with a focus on exploring different sides of his artistry while maintaining a recognisable identity.
“I’m not trying to make every song sound the same. I’m just making music that feels honest to where I am at the moment,” he said.

“People are not just hearing the song, they’re feeling the message behind it,” he said.
For an artiste still establishing his place in Ghana’s music industry, the response has become an important part of his evolution.
Recognition beyond the music
Lalid’s growing profile has also attracted recognition from the industry.
He has been nominated for Best New Artiste at the Ghana Music Awards Ghana and has also received a nomination at the Ghana Music Awards UK.
He describes the nominations as an encouragement, but not the destination.
“It tells me that the work is being noticed and that Lalid is becoming part of bigger conversations,” he said.
More importantly, he says the recognition has strengthened his belief that audiences are beginning to understand what his artistry represents.
‘I’m not looking at Lalid as a moment’
For Lalid, the biggest challenge now is not simply getting attention, but keeping it.
He says one of the hardest parts of his early journey was getting people to give his music a chance in the first place.
That experience taught him patience and reinforced the importance of consistency.
“You can’t always control how quickly people discover you,” he said. “But you can control the quality of your work, your consistency and how much you believe in what you’re building.”
That philosophy now shapes his approach to his career.
“I think the biggest thing is that I’m not looking at Lalid as a moment. I’m looking at it as a career.”
The pressure of being discovered
Success, however, has changed the expectations around his music.
Lalid says that while audiences were still discovering him a year ago, there is now a standard they expect whenever he releases a new song.
He sees that expectation as motivation to evolve rather than pressure to reproduce an earlier success.
“The pressure is really to keep evolving without losing the identity that got people connected to me in the first place,” he said.
It is a balance he appears determined to maintain.
The December event, he says, represents a celebration of the journey so far, an opportunity to connect with his fans, whom he describes as family, and the beginning of a new chapter.
“It’s a celebration of the journey, a connection with the fans and the first page of the next chapter,” he said.
He hopes the event eventually develops into a platform and experience that grows alongside his career.
‘I’m thinking about legacy’
Lalid’s ambitions extend beyond building a successful catalogue.
He wants his music to capture the experiences of his generation while remaining authentically Ghanaian.
He also hopes his journey can encourage other young artistes to believe that there is room for them within Ghana’s music industry.
“I want somebody coming up after me to look at what Lalid has built and believe that there’s space for them too,” he said.
That is why he is already thinking beyond the next song or nomination.
“I’m thinking about legacy,” he said. “I want to leave behind music, moments and a story that people can look back on and say, ‘Lalid really did his thing.’”
‘We’re only getting started’
For now, the immediate focus is December 4.
Lalid says Ghana should expect more music, greater consistency and continued experimentation as he develops his sound and identity.
A year after The Matter introduced many listeners to his music, he believes there is considerably more to come.
“I want Lalid to be remembered as an artiste who brought his own identity, sound and perspective to Ghanaian music,” he said.
“So if you think you’ve seen what Lalid can do, just know that we’re only getting started.”
