Police arrest key suspect in Omanjor killing
The Special Support Unit has arrested Newton Allotey, a prime suspect linked to the violent attack on the Palace of the Chief of Omanjor, which left three people dead and 49 others injured.

Acting on intelligence, four teams from the Unit stormed a hideout at Dansoman’s last stop around 1:00 a.m. on Monday, September 1, 2025, where Allotey was apprehended.

A search conducted during the operation led to the discovery of 18 spent BB cartridges in his possession. The suspect is currently in police custody, assisting investigators.

Police say strenuous efforts are ongoing to track down other accomplices whose identities are already known to security agencies.

Photographs of the suspect and the retrieved exhibits have since been made available to aid the investigation.
