A leading figure of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (COKA), has called on political parties to appoint women into leadership roles if they are not elected.
According to him, all-male leadership structures are unfair and undermine efforts to address gender inequality. He urged parties to be deliberate in creating opportunities for women to assume influential roles.
Speaking in an interview on Sunday, COKA cited his experience as former constituency chairman for Afigya Kwabre North, where he appointed women to fill leadership gaps. That decision, he explained, motivated more women to actively participate in leadership, thereby promoting gender inclusiveness in the constituency.
COKA encouraged Ghanaians to support women in leadership, stressing that balanced representation in decision-making will foster a more equitable and inclusive society.
