IGP deploys special team to probe death of Senegalese national in Kumasi
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has dispatched a special investigations team to assist the Ashanti Regional Police Command in uncovering the circumstances surrounding the death of a Senegalese national, Cheith Toure, in Kumasi.

The team comprises homicide investigators, forensic experts, and intelligence officers who are expected to work closely with regional police to expedite the investigation.

Preliminary police reports indicate that on October 16, 2025, a man identified as Issah, who claimed to be the deceased’s brother, took Toure to the Manhyla Government Hospital with multiple abdominal injuries. Issah allegedly told hospital staff that Toure had been involved in an accident.

However, after Toure was pronounced dead on arrival, Issah reportedly transferred the body to the Ebenezer Mortuary at Tafo in Kumasi.

In a statement, the Ghana Police Service assured the public that a thorough and transparent
investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death and to ensure that anyone found
culpable faces justice.
