The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohonu, has deployed over 100 police personnel to the Ashanti Region to embark on a special, classified security operation aimed at enhancing public safety and maintaining law and order.
This large-scale deployment is part of the Ghana Police Service’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its security presence and reinforce peace and stability across key areas in the region.
The announcement was made by the Director-General, Technical, COP Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba, who spoke on behalf of the IGP. Dr. Gariba confirmed that the operation would be conducted in close collaboration with the Ghana Armed Forces to ensure maximum effectiveness and coordination.
Strict professionalism and information blackout needed
Addressing the assembled officers, Dr. Gariba stressed the essential need for operational integrity, professionalism, and discipline.
“We are going to undertake a special operation in the region. The locations will be disclosed as we go. All that the IGP wants you to do is to be professional, firm, robust, and ensure you execute your task as briefed. Move in groups—there shouldn’t be any isolation,” he instructed.
Furthermore, the Director-General issued a stringent warning against compromising the secrecy of the mission through unauthorized communication:
“This operation is very classified, so no personnel is supposed to be seen taking videos, pictures, or sending WhatsApp messages about what is going on. No one is expected to place a phone call disclosing locations or details of the operation,” he cautioned, highlighting the critical nature of the mission.
