The Police in Begro have launched a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly murdered his girlfriend at a guest house in Ehiamankyene, in the Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern region.
The victim is reported to have visited the suspect at the guest house on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, but did not return home.
Her absence prompted her younger brother to go in search of her the next morning at the guest house.
Upon arriving at the guest house, he discovered his sister lying lifeless in a pool of blood in one of the rooms with a kitchen knife beside her.
In shock, he shouted for help from neighbours before rushing to inform his parents, who later got the police involved.
The Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Ebenezer Tetteh confirmed the incident.
Sources in the community revealed that the relationship between the suspect and the victim did not have the approval of the victim’s family, despite the couple having a child together.
Police in Begro have since retrieved the body from the guest house and deposited it at the Begro Government Hospital for autopsy.
An investigation has been launched by the Police as efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect.
Meanwhile, tensions in the community escalated when some angry youth set fire to a motorbike belonging to the suspect .
They also set fire to the guest house allegedly owned by the suspect.
Police officers intervened and urged the youth to remain calm and allow the investigation to proceed so the courts can deal with the suspect.
