President John Dramani Mahama recently led a high-level delegation to Japan to participate in the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9).
Held in Yokohama from August 20 to 22, 2025, the conference served as a key platform for Ghana to strengthen its economic ties and promote investment.
On the sidelines of the conference, President Mahama addressed a Presidential Investment Forum in Tokyo, where he passionately pitched Ghana as Africa’s most attractive investment destination.
Speaking to a packed room of Japanese investors, diplomats, and government officials, he described Ghana as a stable, democratic, and business-friendly gateway to West Africa and the wider continent.
Mahama also highlighted Ghana’s improving macroeconomic environment, strategic location, and vast opportunities for trade, industrialization, and technology transfer.
He emphasized that “Ghana is open for business 24 hours a day,” and that the nation is “embracing a bold vision that harnesses innovation, industrialization, and regional integration to unlock the full potential of our people and resources.“
The TICAD process, which began in 1993, is one of the most influential global platforms for African development.
Led by the Government of Japan in collaboration with the United Nations, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the African Union Commission (AUC), and the World Bank, the conference aims to promote African ownership of its development agenda while fostering strong international partnerships.
