Trump calls violence in Nigeria ‘a disgrace’, accuses authorities of failing to protect citizens
US President Donald Trump has once again criticised Nigeria’s handling of ongoing attacks in parts of the country, describing the situation as “a disgrace” and alleging that thousands of people are being killed without decisive government action.

Speaking in an interview on Fox News, Trump said the scale of the violence amounts to genocide.

“I think Nigeria is a disgrace, the whole thing is a disgrace. They are killing people by the thousands. It is a genocide, and I am really angry about it,” he said.

He argued that the United States provides significant financial support to Nigeria but claimed that the assistance has not led to improved security.

“And we pay, you know, we give a lot of subsidy to Nigeria. They are very ineffective. They are killing Christians at will,” Trump asserted.

Trump noted that he believes the issue had not been receiving adequate global attention until he spoke about it publicly. “And you know, until I got involved two weeks ago, nobody even talked about it. The New York Times does not write stories about it,” he added.

Trump maintained that the violence has been ongoing for a long period, accusing Nigerian authorities of failing to take decisive steps to protect citizens.
