Daddy Lumba goes home today after months of family dispute
The final funeral rites of legendary Ghanaian musician Daddy Lumba are set to take place today, Saturday, December 13, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, following a High Court decision that cleared the way for his burial.

The Accra High Court ruled that the funeral could proceed after the applicants in a long-running family dispute failed to raise the GH₵2 million required to maintain an injunction blocking the release of the musician’s body.

The court had earlier stated that failure to make the payment would compel Transitions Funeral Home to release the body for burial.

The ruling ends months of legal battles that delayed the funeral and created tension among members of the late musician’s family.

Reacting to the decision on Friday December 12, lead counsel for the defendants, Dominic Osei, described the ruling as a relief for the family, fans, and especially the children of the late musician. He said prolonged litigation around a deceased loved one was painful and unnecessary.

Mr. Osei called on Ghanaians to attend the funeral and honour the music legend. He urged fans to put aside personal interests and come together to celebrate Daddy Lumba’s life and legacy.

He added that the court’s decision brings closure to a difficult chapter and allows the nation to bid farewell to one of Ghana’s most celebrated musicians. With legal hurdles now cleared, Daddy Lumba finally goes home today.
