Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Henry Asante Twum has confirmed that new Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz will work with five new additions to his technical team, as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking at a press conference at the Alisa Hotel, Asante Twum revealed that while fresh expertise is being introduced, some members of the previous technical setup will be retained to ensure continuity. Former Black Stars players Fatau Dauda and John Paintsil are among those expected to remain from the backroom staff that served under former head coach Otto Addo.
The announcement came as Queiroz addressed the media for the first time since his appointment by the Ghana Football Association on April 13.
The experienced Portuguese coach outlined his readiness to take on the challenge of leading Ghana at the global showpiece.
Queiroz, who has previously managed at multiple FIFA World Cups with Portugal and Iran, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having also coached top clubs including Real Madrid and Manchester United. His immediate focus will be on assembling a competitive squad and implementing his tactical philosophy ahead of the tournament.
Ghana will be making its fifth appearance at the World Cup and have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia. The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, before facing England and Croatia in subsequent matches, as they aim to make a strong impact on the world stage.
