Only propagandists think Dr Bawumia is a weak leader—Oppong Nkrumah
Former Works and Housing Minister and Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayerebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has dispelled the propaganda that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is a weak leader.

According to him, the fact that the former vice president is not seen as being aggressive and shouting all over the place doesn’t make him a weak leader.

To him, a leader is someone who makes his point known without insulting and being aggressive, and that is what Dr Mahamudu Bawumia embodies.

He explained that he has been with the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 elections for years, and he can attest to the fact that he is not a walkover.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, who was speaking on X space, indicated that even at the cabinet level, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia made his case for some taxes and levies and why they shouldn’t have been introduced; however, the cabinet voted and ensured that those levies were passed.

“A weak leader is one who says that I will keep quiet and let them go and fight, a strong leader is that who says that I will stand up and do what people feel is the most embarrassing thing, which is to stand up and say I have lost. We compiled the election, and we know we’ve lost and congratulate him. In 2020, the current president could not even muster the courage to call Nana Akufo-Addo to say that you have won, and some people think that is strength. Respectfully, I don’t share that view,” he said, defending the decision by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to concede defeat early in the 2024 elections.

“A strong leader is the one who is able to get up and say we got it wrong. We didn’t win. So Dr Mahamudu Bawumia if you don’t know him and you listen to the propaganda outside you may believe that thing. Those of us who have walked with him and worked with him, he is one of the very strongest people.

I was with him in cabinet when he will tell you that this thing I think that if we impose this we will have problems and this and this is why and after that cabinet will vote a particular way and say that they disagree with him and he’s fine. He didn’t need to be disrespectful about it or brag about it. Soft, sweet, respectful to everybody he has told you his opinion. So anybody who says he’s not a strong leader doesn’t know who a strong leader is,” he said.
