Let people win positions on their strength and not with your name – Bawumia told
Member of Parliament for Akyem Swedru, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, has cautioned the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to desist from allowing persons interested in national positions to use his name.

According to him, people who have an interest in any national position should be able to win based on their own accord rather than use his name.

Making this position known in a social media post, Kennedy Osei Nyrako said people must campaign on their own strength and win their positions.

His post read “Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia Your Excellency, please do not allow any of the potential contestants seeking for the various offices within the party structures to use your name or ride on your current position as the Flagbearer to advance their ambitions. People must campaign on their own strength and win their positions. Your Excellency please resist any temptation from any potential candidate who may want to use your name to advance their agenda or course.

This i believe will help your course better ahead of the 2028 election”.

The NPP on January 31, 2026 elected Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s flagbearer who will lead the party into the 2028 election.

Other contestants for the position who lost have pledged to support the former Vice President wrestle power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
